I’m still getting my old posts imported to this site, but in the meantime I thought I’d mention that the storycards auctioned off for the British PEN charity are now online. These are short stories or outlines written by well known authors. The one most people are making a big deal about is of course J.K. Rowling’s, but a number of other authors contributed: Margaret Atwood (Canadian), Neil Gaiman, Sebastian Faulks (new Bond book), etc.
J.K. Rowling’s card is online though you’ll have to do a bit of navigating because it is a flash-based site (so no direct linking to the card). The card is handwritten and I found it somewhat hard to read. I haven’t had time to look at all the cards.
For the writers among you, there is the chance to submit your own card which may end up being selected to be published along side the authors cards in a book to be sold to raise more PEN funds. Deadline is June 19.
For more details on the auction, see these news stories from Bloomberg and the Guardian.
