I just love opening the door and finding a nice thick envelope in the mailbox from a publisher with a brand-spankin’ new book in it! This morning I received (unexpectedly) Rules of Deception by Christoper Reich.
This is the second book that I’ve received through Booklounge.ca for filling out a survey (the last one was Jhumpa Lahiri’s Unaccustomed Earth, which I reviewed). Unlike the FirstLook program, I never seem to receive advance warning that one of these books is in the mail so it’s always a surprise (a pleasant one!) to get them.
I haven’t read Christopher Reich before, but he writes in a genre that I love: international thriller. I’m always looking for new authors to explore and this one certainly looks promising. I hope the book lives up to the back copy. I’ll let you know how it stands up in a week or so (unfortunately I have other things to do than read today. Besides I’ve already read two books this weekend!).
