The number of free book downloads this week depends on whether or not you have a Kindle (I don’t — what with the $300 price tag and not being an American). If you do have a Kindle, well lucky you because RandomHouse (via Amazon) is giving away a pile of backlist books for authors with new books out in 2009. Download links good until Feb 28th.
If you don’t have a Kindle, you can check out Manybooks.net, which has a vintage sci-fi book (1958) for download: Starman’s Quest by Robert Silverberg.
If you don’t mind reading online, Penguin has put up the YA novel Ranger’s Apprentice: The Ruins of Gorlan on Scribd until February 15th.
Let me know if you find anything good.

I really wish they’d figure out a way around the legal stuff and find a way for us Canadians to get our hands on a Kindle! I’d save for it if I knew I could buy it later this year.

I like the idea of the Kindle, but I’m wary of proprietary formats. I’ve been burned by ebooks becoming technologically outdated before. Would be nice to have the choice though.
I like the idea of rounding up free book downloads. Reading online isn’t a lot of fun, but it serves its purpose…

Hey, if you decide to buy yourself a Kindle feel free to click the amazon link on this blog first (I’d love to make $10 before the next millenium rolls around, heh). I’ll stick to my iPod Touch that lets me play solitaire when I get bored of reading.
